Deer hunting equipment

Deer hunting equipmentTo ensure a good deer hunt, you want to make sure that you start out with the right deer hunting equipment. So, what is the right deer hunting equipment?

Low power scope with a large aperture. If you have mastered your open sight (which comes standard on the majority of rifles) or if you simply want a challenge, then you may not need a power scope. Otherwise, go for it. A power scope is going to be especially helpful if you are going to be taking short shots.

Muzzleloader. If you use a muzzleloader, you are going to want to make sure that you take the cleanest shot possible. After all, a muzzleloader generally can only take one shot, and by the time you reload it, anything that can move will have moved. Go with a caplock instead of a flintlock: it is less likely to misfire.

Cartridge. Check with your state/province for the minimum cartridge specifications for whitetail hunting. Make sure that your cartridge delivers at least nine hundred foot pounds of energy at impact. Choose a high velocity, medium caliber cartridge. These are best for deer hunting. Get bullets that weight 130 grams or more.

Bow. Bowhunting as many benefits over gun hunting. A bow hunter gets a longer season, among other benefits. There are some excellent new designs. Try out a compound bow. It is the most popular type. Of course, if you are going for a lighter, quieter bow, try a longbow or a recurve bow. Of course, these are going to take much more off-season shooting practice.

GPS. So, this is not a standard piece of deer hunting equipment, but it can really be an important one. A GPS will help ensure the safety of a hunter, and it will also allow him or her to find and find again a great hunting spot.

Satellite phone. Again, this piece of deer hunting equipment is really a tool of safety. Whether you fall out of a tree stand, get lost, or just want to chat, you are really going to appreciate having a satellite phone.

Doe urine. Attract the big bucks by strategically placing doe urine.
